Pavel has almost three decades of experience in the Russian financial markets. Before founding Matrix, he had been leading Deutsche Bank Russia for four years. From 1996 till 2010 he headed Troika Dialog Asset Management Company, primarily in the position of the president, and later as the chairman of the board.

Pavel Teplukhin has played a crucial role in creating private banking and collective investment industry in Russia. He is a mastermind and co-author of the Russian pension system reform. He took part in launching the first Russia-focused U.S. mutual fund in 1996, established the first stock unit investment fund (UIF) in 1997, the first real estate UIF, the first life insurance UIF, and managed four of the five major pension funds in Russia.

Pavel is the chairman of the strategy committee of the board of directors at Rusnano and a member of the board at the International Trade Center. Previously he served as a member of the board of directors at Aeroflot and VTB.

Pavel is the winner of numerous awards. He was recognized as one of the “20 Rising Stars of Wealth Management” by Institutional Investor global rating in 2007. He was named the “Industry Legend in Russia” by SPEAR’s Russia Wealth Management Awards in 2012 and included in the “Hall of Fame” of the Russian Banking Forum in 2013.

Pavel graduated from the Moscow State University (MSU) with honours. He also holds a PhD in economics from MSU and a Master of Science degree in Economics from the London School of Economics.

Pavel is married, has two sons and a daughter. He is the author of “Teplukhin’s Matrix: before and after the first million” book and a passionate collector of antiques.

Pavel has over 25 years of experience in the Russian capital markets.

In 2013-2015 he was CFO & deputy chairman of the management board of Russia’s largest petrochemical company, SIBUR Holding.  He also served as a member of the board of directors of SIBUR Holding from 2010 till 2013. During his tenure at SIBUR, Pavel played a key role in a number of M&A, project finance and capital markets transactions for a total amount of over
USD8 billion.  In 2015 he was recognized as the “Best CFO in the Russian petrochemical industry” by the National Association of Managers.

Prior to joining SIBUR Pavel had been leading UBS investment banking team for Russia, Kazakhstan, and Ukraine for six years.

Pavel graduated from the Moscow State University of International Relations with a degree in International Law.  He also holds an MS degree from the University of Chicago Law School and an MPA degree from Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs.

Pavel is married and raises two daughters. He teaches corporate finance at Moscow State University, speaks Mandarin Chinese and has a depository of quotes and life stories.
